When learning a language, we all start with the alphabet. It's a basic and standard set of letters used when writing. These letters also represent different sounds in that language. It's pretty easy to speak Spanish as it's phonetic. This means that once you memorize the sounds of different letters in the alphabet, you can easily read any word.

The Spanish alphabet has changed over decades. In 2010, "ch" and "ll" was removed from the alphabet. To English speakers, there is now only one additional letter that doesn't appear in the English alphabet. It's "ñ". And while "k" and "w" are part of the alphabet, they only appear in loan words or words of foreign origin such as kilómetro, whisky, etc.

While in Latin American countries arounds the 60's, "rr" was considered to be a part of the alphabet, the Royal Spanish Academy never confirmed this. And nowadays, the letter "r" is pronounced "air-eh".

There are five digraphs: ch (cheh), ll (eh-yeah), rr ( err-eh), gu, and qu. Acute accent and diacritical marks are also used on vowels (á, é, í, ó, ú, ü). They are considered variants of plain vowel letters.
